RM2K3 and XP Pages Archived

Pretitle Movie Snapshot

The pages for 2K3 and XP moved to Archives, while the posts remain intact. Reasons The reason for this is because I no longer use them, so no longer actively support them. The focus is now on VX, VX Ace, MV and Smile Game Builder. This is part of RPG Maker Times‘s spring cleaning and renovation. Most of the updates will be on Smile Game Builder and MV now, with occasional updates for the other second-generation RPG Makers.

GIMP Doesn’t Like Smile Game Builder! Here’s Why!

Smile Game Builder

I use GIMP to render most of my custom graphics and images for RPG Maker and Smile Game Builder projects. Corrupted Images Apparently, GIMP doesn’t like Smile Game Builder much. Images created, rendered, saved, exported and imported in SGB in exactly the same way as normal. Yet 50% of images become corrupted. Images saved with other graphics programs don’t "corrupt" this way when displayed in SGB. Here’s a normal picture rendered through GIMP: And here’s another image displayed in the editor: It’s quite an anomaly, isn’t it? Solution Why does this occur? Well, it’s due to interlacing. As part of its PNG compression process, GIMP uses the Adam7 interlacing algorithm,…

Ready To Go Medieval? New RPG Maker Packs!

RPG Maker Web has released some new DLCs, this time with a medieval theme! https://t.co/OosfggUsZo Three new packs ready to help you go positively Medieval on your game! pic.twitter.com/oCceMSevkr — RPG Maker Web (@RPGmakerweb) July 16, 2016 How about some medieval Knights Templar character sets? Pioneer Valley Games has released one, expanding their medieval theme, including interior tilesets. Or how about some medieval music to match? Joel Steudler has done a very good job on composing 20 medieval pieces (5 Battle, 4 Dungeon, 3 Field, 3 Theme, and 5 Town) using period musical instruments, such as the lute, recorder, and harpsichord. And I do really like this collection. The final…

New Resource: Fantasy Castle Title1 (RMMV)

I decided to release the Fantasy Castle Title1 resource for RPG Maker MV, which I created in Daz 3D Studio. Origins Initially, I had planned this for a future project (which I may still use), but decided to release it to the public. In my opinion, it encapsulates the majesty of both castle and dragons. It’s quite a nice render. Non-Commercial Use As with most of my resources, this is only useable in non-commercial projects. Credit me as either Companion Wulf or RPG Maker Times if you use this in your projects.

New Resources for RMMV

A few RMMV resources have been added today. These are all free for use in non-commercial projects only, but please credit "Companion Wulf" or "RPG Maker Times" if you use any (or all) of them. I will be creating and uploading more RPG Maker MV resources as inspiration and time allows.

Steam Keys Giveaway #1 – Coming Soon

I recently bought Bundle Stars’ Game Makers Mega Bundle, so that means I have some extra RPG Maker VX Ace and Game Guru Steam keys (programs and resources) to give away. I’m not sure how this’ll work yet because there’s one key per program or resource. Maybe it’ll be in the form of competitions, or it might be in the form of a "first come, first served" basis. More news on this soon. EDIT: It’s been decided that there will be a competition to win a copy of RPG Maker VX Ace and 4 resource packs. Runners-up prizes are to be decided. Giveaway competition for #RPGMaker #Steam keys decided. #RMVXA…

How To Create Autotiles – Tutorial

Cracked Rabbit Gaming has produced a three-part tutorial on creating autotiles for RMVXA (which follows the same principles in RMVX and RMXP). They are quite long, but they’re comprehensive and are well worth watching through. How to Create Autotiles #1 – Color-Coded Anatomy

Windowskin Conversion – RMXP to RMVX/VXA

One of the most sought-after searches (according to Statcounter anyway) is about converting windowskins between RPG Makers. There are several methods for doing this, but one of the best and easiest ways is Hiper Windowskin Maker. Import RMXP windowskins into Hiper Windowskin Maker and you can convert to RMVX/VXA by selecting the parts and applying them to the RMVX/VXA windowskins, which can then be saved and imported for use. RMVXA windowskins are exactly the same as RMVX ones, so there’s no need for additional conversion. However, RMVXA’s windowskin colours (defined in the "System" tab of the Database) overrides the background graphics. For this reason, I’d recommend my RMVX to RMVXA…

Update: Windowskins

Several windowskins have been updated and added. Hover over the link to see a preview, then click the link to go to the appropriate page. Update is where the windowskin has been updated, including description or incorrect graphic fixed. New refers to newly found and implemented windowskins, not necessarily newly created ones.

Updates: Windowskins

Portal Page Under development is a portal page to display all the sections (and subsections) on this blogsite, including resources, tutorials and scripts. When completed, this will then be updated as new material is available here. Windowskins All of the windowskins have now been updated. The list shows which versions are available along with a preview of each windowskin. As far as I know there aren’t any more, but if I come across some I haven’t implemented yet, I’ll update them accordingly. Universal Configuration Settings Module The Universal Configuration Settings Module (UCSM) will be undergoing a few changes, since most of my scripts will now no longer be exclusively reliant…
