Events Tutorials 2b: Picture Effects – Tinting

RPG Maker Times Blog

This is the third video in the Events Tutorials series and the second in the Picture Effects multi-parter. If you haven’t already, I recommend you watch the first one, Fade In/Out Picture Effects before this one. This how-to video shows how to create a nice tint effect for your pictures. This, in my opinion, is a really cool effect. As always, future tutorials are drawn from different sources or whenever I’m inspired. However, write suggestions for future Events Tutorials in the comments below. Video Tutorial Other RPG Makers The steps in this video will work in other RPG Makers, probably with some tweaking. Setting up is essentially the same, as…

Events Tutorials 2a: Picture Effects – Fading In/Out

RPG Maker Times Blog

This is the second video in the Events Tutorials series. It’s a multi-parter demonstrating how to create some cool picture effects for your RPG Maker games. In the first video (this one), we’ll cover fading pictures in and out on maps for things like chapters. The second video in the series deals with tinting picture effects. There may be more picture effects tutorials in the future. For future tutorials, I’ll draw on different sources or whenever I’m inspired. However, if you have suggestions for future Events Tutorials, let me know in the comments below. Video Tutorial Other RPG Makers The steps in this video will work in other RPG Makers,…

Events Tutorial 1 – Using Party Leaders (RMMV)

RPG Maker Times Blog

This is the first in a series of Events Tutorials I’d like to create. In this first one, Using Party Members, I demonstrate how to access the party leader via events. Not just printing out who’s leading the party in the message box, but also interacting with them and making them interact as leader. For future tutorials, I’ll draw on different sources, including my own techniques and some at Yahoo! Answers. However, if you have suggestions for future Events Tutorials, let me know in the comments below. Video Tutorial Use In Otherworld I used this method in Otherworld, where certain characters must be party leader to progress. This, when combined…

Social Media Buttons/In-Game Website Plugin Tutorial (RMMV)

This tutorial demonstrates how to use my Social Media Buttons/In-Game Website plugin for RPG Maker MV. With the plugin you can place social media buttons (Twitter, Facebook and website) on the Title Screen. You can also call a website from within the game. These will open in a new game window or new tab in your default browser.

Complete Chests Tutorial for RM2K3 Update

The Complete Chests Tutorial is up-to-date for RM2K3. Main Chest Tutorial for #RM2K3 complete. More added soon. Other chapters/versions soon after. http://t.co/qarJHKoclM pic.twitter.com/0C1ioOnGaJ — RPG Maker Times (@CompanionWulf) September 22, 2015 I’m planning on bringing the RMXP version up-to-date next, with RMVX/VXA next, and then creating a demo for each RPG Maker – possibly in the form of a game.

Bringing Tutorials Up-to-Date

Finally, I’ve started bringing all the tutorials on the site up-to-date, starting with the Final Fantasy Mystic Quest Battlefield System Tutorial (now including a downloadable demo). Over the next few weeks at least, I’ll try and continue bringing the rest of the Tutorials & How-To’s up-to-date as well. Because I recently found a lot of RPG Maker things, it’s been quite useful for re-creating the tutorials, many of which I thought had been lost. I’ll go through each of them, one by one, and gradually bring them all up-to-date; this might take a while so it could spread over the course of a few months.

The “Complete Chests Tutorial” Is Being Updated

The Complete Chests Tutorial

The Complete Chests Tutorial is finally being given a long overdue update! Since my recent purchase of the officially translated version of RM2K3 from Steam, I decided to finally bring this tutorial up-to-date. I’m basically rewriting them but using the tutorials as templates and adding some additional features as well. Included will be some new chapters, which again were planned but never fully implemented. A downloadable demo will be available for each RPG Maker. Maps will be unique to each but the basic principles will be the same throughout. The demos will be more puzzle-orientated as well. Once complete, the Complete Chests Tutorial will also be uber-updated.

How To Create Autotiles – Tutorial

Cracked Rabbit Gaming has produced a three-part tutorial on creating autotiles for RMVXA (which follows the same principles in RMVX and RMXP). They are quite long, but they’re comprehensive and are well worth watching through. How to Create Autotiles #1 – Color-Coded Anatomy

Sprite Icon Tutorial for RPG Maker

Here’s a simple tutorial for creating custom RPG Maker icons and sprite sheets in GIMP (Photoshop should work as well since they have similar functions). I’ve been using GIMP for years and this tutorial taught me a few things as well. This doesn’t go into too much detail on how to create quality icons, but it does give you an idea and provides the easiest way to do so.
